Debate and Forensics!!! I absolutely love this club.

Gay-Straight Alliance (Officer) - we offer a “safe haven” for students who feel insecure or scared about themselves, and how others around them will see them as. We offer a place where they can be themselves. We also advocate for Gay Rights, and fundraise for the Trevor Project (suicide prevention for LGBT Teens)

Breast Cancer Awareness - We fundraise for Breast Cancer Research, volunteer, and spread awareness around the school.

Key Club - Community service around our city and state.

Math Enrichment Tutoring - Tutor Algebra I and Geometry to Middle Schoolers…

Marching band: competitive, it’s just amazing.
Jazz band: really fun, jazz make me feel relaxed and good.
Pit band: strange combo of the worst thing in the world and really fun. We play for the musical.
Pep band: so laid back, we play at home basketball games, it’s like 10 kids.
District band (and hopefully Regions and All-State)- competitive band you audition to get in, my district is the most represented in the all-state band so it’s tough, but cool.
Odyssey of the Mind: So epic, we made it to Worlds last year with a Ranatra Fusca in Theatrics (19th at worlds woop) and my team is doing vehicle this year.
Envirothon: really fun, I learned a bunch of Frog and Toad calls and got a day off of school to walk around and identify trees and soil.
Relay for Life: raises money for the American Cancer society, last year we raised almost $9,000 and we hope to top that. I love it.
Scholastic Scrimmage: it’s like a quiz bowl, I’m joining it this year because I didn’t actually know about it last year until it was halfway through the season and I was up to my elbows in other commitments.
NHS: I want to tutor this year because I like helping kids with school work. I might do other things if I can/they seem fun.

Junior:
Global Voice (where we do nothing- mainly for social reasons)
Peer Leadership

I decided not to participate in a lot of clubs this year - I am focusing on my really demanding museum internship.
Oh, and I also tutor writing to advanced 3rd graders.

I was in Guidance Honors Society last year, but it was pointless so I’m not going it. And I chose not to do NHS this year also.

Oh I forgot - I am also the event coordinator for our Fusion Club. So, I plan their field trips. Fusion is a group where juniors mentor freshmen.

My school has 40 (yes, I said 40) different clubs. Add music and non-school sanctioned sports and it goes to 50.

I’m President of Environmental and Model UN, and a member of a few others. While some are quite literally, eat ice cream and put it on a resume, most of our groups have goals and plans for the year. People don’t join for resumes- I’ve seen it happen and people sift out by 2nd semester. People join out of common interest and passion.

Sadly, colleges will never distinguish that from ice cream clubs.

I don’t know how many clubs my school has. So far I joined French club. We met once and ate ice cream. It was fun but I was disppointed. Hopefully next time we’ll do something related to French, like eating French ice cream or something.

I’m in marching band. I also will be in tennis team in the spring. I’d like to do drama club but I don’t know if my schedule allows me to. so maybe not.

Math club
CSF
NHS- but we actually do stuff now.
Frisbee club- we just play frisbee.

Marching band: High stepping, play music off the radio type stuff. Practice from 3:45 to 6:30. Gets worse as the season goes on and we prepare for the state and Nationals competition. I play trumpet, btw.

HOSA: Youngest president in school’s history and first male president. Do some community outreach (Relay for Life, blood drives, etc.), raise money through fundraisers. Trying to go to the district competition to get a feel for it.

SGA: was 9th grade class president, now 10th grade. Lead quiz bowl team to 2nd place in black history quiz bowl (lost by 5 points to the social studies club), community service, plan activities for school, and PLAN HOMECOMING! Also, I’m a freshman/new student transition leader.

PTSA: first student VP in school history. community service stuff, planning activities for school, making student lives better, increasing parent and community awareness about what goes in my school.

Joining NHS when sophomores get invitations.

I may join science bowl!

Robotics is the only club I found worthy of joining. I am the head software engineer.
