CMC vs Tufts vs Vassar vs Middlebury

Hey guys,

I got into all four of the above schools. I was quite shocked, to be honest because they were all reaches and my plan was that I would go to whichever one if I happen to luckily get into.

But I got into all four and I am quite torn. Any advices?

I want to study Art and either Econ or Bio. But I am still kind of undecided.
I have never experienced a winter with snow before
I am an International student.

Thanks!

While it’s obviously your decision, if your even remotely considering any kind of business/economics/etc. you cannot do better than CMC. The Kaplan Colleges book from this year that 1 of 8 students who graduate from there end up becoming a company executive of some sort. Also, you can cross enroll at the other Clarement branch schools, meaning if you don’t like the art program at CMC you can go to one a (8?) amazing schools for this information.

ECON: CMC/Vassar
BIO: Vassar/Tufts
winter with few snow: CMC

Middlebury is the most prestigious school that accepted you, but you really need to make your decision based on fit. Tufts, Vassar, and Middlebury will have cold winters. Middlebury and Vassar have the nicest campuses. Middlebury has David Colander, who wrote one of the most widely used econ text books in colleges today. Here’s an article about him. In the end, they’re all great schools.

[Economic Principals](http://www.economicprincipals.com/issues/06.02.12.html)

I don’t agree at all that Middlebury is the most prestigious school. How is it more prestigious than CMC?

I guess prestige is in the eye of the beholder. I grew up on the East Coast and lived for a time in the Midwest and South. I first heard about Middlebury when I was a freshman in high school. I’ve only recently come to appreciate that CMC is a good school (that’s often eclipsed by Pomona). Pass it off as East Coast bias, but Middlebury is (IMHO) more prestigious than CMC in New England and the Middle Atlantic states.

I agree, prestige doesn’t necessarily mean that Middlebury is better quality than CMC or other schools (although for my specific interests it does) but it simply is better known this side of the continent…in terms of eastern Canada, all the small LACS have extremely minimal recognition …but the very occasional person up here will have heard of Midd

thank you guys so much…

i am no longer considering middlebury though. it’s down to cmc and vassar
