This is so exciting. Last year I think only one kid on the whole combined MT/Acting boards got in, though one or two others were waitlisted.

Wow, congratulations, AssstToTheMT and taxiparent! Great program!

I know so many acceptances, and to CMU! Congratulations All!! Lets go for a CMU-CC cohort !!

Do you know how big was the waitlist last year and how many got accepted from it?

In past years, the calls for acting went out over a few days time. I think there are 14-15 calls to make for acting. My daughter said she and Barbara and Kaf talked for a while, like 15 minutes. So if they spend that much time on each it seems logical that they didn’t have time to make all the calls yesterday. But I’m totally speculating.

Other people have posted that there is a “priority waitlist” which is tiny, only a couple of people, and a regular waitlist…but very few people turn down CMU, so people should probably view both as an achievement, rather than a likelihood of getting in.

@AsstToTheMT, #sparkleshirley and #taxiparent, you must be floating!

Congratulations everyone! Very impressive - you must all be super talented!

Congrats everyone!!!

Just a little background info for those wondering about the process at CMU: Last year my D was on the priority waitlist for CMU BFA in MT and she was over the moon about just getting that . We got an e-mail inviting her to be on the waitlist about a week -ten days after the acceptance calls went out. I don’t know how many total were on the waitlist, but they accepted 5 girls total for MT, and didn’t end up taking any girls off the waitlist. Not sure about the boys. They also state that getting off the waitlist is not need blind, and we interpreted that to mean that if you were lucky to get an acceptance off of the waitlist, you would have to have the funds to pay your way without relying on money from CMU. They also said that scholarship money from the person declining does not necessarily go to the person coming off the waitlist.

Does anyone think they’re done making the calls?

An additional note for CMU wait-listed students. CMU provides those who have been wait-listed a financial aid package (yes, with scholarship or other financial assistance as determined) in the mail either at the time the “official wait list” letter arrives or several days after. This way if there is an inviatation off of the wait list, the applicant has their financil info in hand.

Congratulations to everyone who got the call!! It’s really tremendous to get the opportunity to get trained at
CMU.

Does anyone know how many auditioned, accepted and waitlisted this year for acting and MT programs respectively?

1900 auditioned. 7 girls accepted for acting and 5 girls for MT. Not sure about boys or waitlists.

Well, those are some ridiculous odds. Sigh.

Thanks, DoReMeMom.

For those of you whose D or S was accepted to CMU Acting and Not MT, did you audition for both Kaf and Barbara? Do you have to be passed to be considered? Any info. on your audition would be appreciated. Thank you.
My D auditioned for both Kaf and Barbara. Not sure if one must be passed over to each professor in order to be considered; certainly the more time spent auditioning, and the more people a student sees is a good sign. I thought they said something before the audition like, “if you only see one of us, it doesn’t mean you won’t be offered a spot.” Sorry I can’t be more help. This is a nerve-wracking time. Wishing your child luck.
