CMU ECE vs. Cornell Engineering

I have a hard time deciding my ED college. I’m a female international student studying in the U.S and I really like CMU ECE and Cornell engineering so I wonder which one is easier to get into. Cornell ED has an acceptance rate at around 20~25% and CMU ECE has 20%, but somehow my college counselor tells me Cornell is harder but she thinks I have good chances for both.

Besides the acceptance rate, I wonder if CMU students have a better chance to get an interview from tech companies. I’ve heard that there are many companies coming to CMU every year. Even though Cornell is an ivy league, CMU might have a better career service. I plan to double major/ major&minor in ECE and CS or ECE and HCI (plus, I’m a huge fan of cybersecurity), so I list some pros and cons:

Carnegie Mellon:
Great engineering and CS program
smaller classes (better education?)
higher GPA?(since Cornell has so many people)
CyLab
design school is also really good

Cornell:
Also a good engineering program
better campus
more campus activities
has a great squash team(I play squash at school)
ivy league==
better food

Please give me some advice:)

The CMU computer security competitive team is ranked number one in the world. It’s the capture the flag team called Plaid Parliament of Pwning. Search CTF for the team ranking. Have fun choosing and I wish you happiness wherever you go.

CMU will not give you any FA since your are an international student, however Cornell will so talk to parents and see if money is an issue. Otherwise CMU does have a better rep and probably better research/internship opportunity.

If you haven’t already, make sure you post this in the Cornell sub-forums as well.

CMU has an awesome career center. I have a D there and she has scored some really great internships. My other D goes to Cornell and they have a good one, too.
