<p>Hey guys, really needed your help in finalizing my university. I'm planning to do Computer Sciences but the problem is that I got through CMU CIT and got waitlisted at SCS CMU. Also I got through UC Berkeley for Computer Sciences.
So should I go in for CMU CIT ( and then transfer to SCS later) or should I go to UC Berkeley ?</p>

<p>To be honest, both are very strong CS programs, but have verrrryyy different feels as far as campus life and community. I’d choose whichever community you think best fits you. I love CMU and hope you chose it, but having a guaranteed spot in CS is nice. If you did come to CMU, you can definitely take the freshman year CS classes from within CIT, so if you did transfer to SCS, you wouldn’t be behind.</p>
<p>Should also mention that transferring into SCS is difficult, and they’ll make you take a good amount of CS classes on top of your other major before they let you transfer.</p>
<p>If you don’t get into SCS, then definitely Berkeley for Comp Sci- as far as academics go. As others have said, the campuses are very different, so you might want to look into that as well.</p>
<p>If you’re in-state I’d just go for Berkeley since it’ll be a lot cheaper and you are alrdy in a CS program.</p>

<p>I would argue that in wolverine’s position, it is actually quite easy to transfer into SCS from ECE. The “ton of CS” classes that you would have to take so happen to also be important for ECE. Aside from 15-251 (and other related classes that you can avoid unlike 251), this should actually be a simple transfer…</p>
<p>I would know. I’ve been given the opportunity to transfer if I want to, but I’ll just sit on my ECE/CS dual degree >_></p>
<p>ECE with a software concentration and maybe 1 or two CS electives is basically a double major between ECE and CS.</p>
<p>Transferring into SCS is extremely easy. I’m a CS primary, but I’ve seen plenty of students simply transfer into the program. It is a very relaxed process.</p>

<p>You don’t have to get admitted to SCS to double major in CS. You have to take alot of tough CS classes though, obviously.</p>
