CMU Pre-College Acceptance 2007

I'm not sure. All I can think about is how I haven't gotten a response. I had a meeting with my counselor today. It looks like, as the information right now shows, I cannot take both AP Stats and AP Calc BC (same spot in schedule). I'd like to replace AP Stats with AP CS A (school doesn't offer AB, but I'll self-study up to it) but I need Java experience...

Should I just call CMU?

Yes, or ask your guidance counselor to call.

Call, but if you don't get information the first time, keep calling. The first time my dad called they told him I didn't exsist in their system. However, they had cashed the check. So, just keep calling until you get someone who can actually find you in the system.

Good luck! The whole money in by June 1st thing is bad for those of us who are just finding out now.

Thanks, I will soon...

i was just accepted into art! yay! after multiple phone calls and cmu being weird and telling me i didn't send anything, i got in.

see you all. well, I'm only part time, I live in pittsburgh! but cmu is great!

Any news, diginetgod?

Congrats, Jilldanielle! I hope to see you there, even though I'm in APEA!

I'm calling on Tuesday, after memorial day, when I can actually reach the office.
Since payments are due by June 6th, I expect to receive a response soon, whether through the mail or otherwise.

Diginetgod, just keep bugging them. Eventually you will get someone who isn't entirely incapable of finding you in the system. Don't worry if it doesn't work the first time.

I called today, and I apparently was accepted May 23rd (woot), so I should receive something in the mail VERY SOON. Yay! So excited. I literally was jumping up and down.

Hopefully my dad can scrape together $7,000 before June 6th, since I'll be taking two courses while staying in a dorm.

Does anyone know of someone who took a third course? Just curious.

Guess I'll be seeing you three (hopefully) :)

Congrats!

Yeah, I'm concerned about my parents getting three thousand together. Actually, its b/c of my family's finances that I'm only taking one course.

Oh, and I decided to take The Nature of Language instead.

Not science based, but a GREAT course nonetheless. Whee. Hope to see you there!
I have a mini-fan that attaches to a shelf, bed, or stand and can stand alone, so I'll be able to withstand those vicious Pittsburgh summers. Bring a fan! (or two, or three...)
Should I bring a desktop, laptop, or nothing (keep in mind that BOTH of my courses are computer-related - programming and engineering)?

Well, I'm bringing my laptop, but mostly b/c I can't live w/o it.
Thank god I'm staying w/ my grandparents, who do have AC.
Hope to see you!

I'm bringing a laptop. I can't live without mine either. Seriously, I think I'd have intense withdrawals or something ;)
A fan... good idea. I should bring one, so that I don't die from the heat.

Even if I could live w/o my laptop, my friends are kinda forcing me to talk to them all summer. I don't have a choice.

Actually, they're just worried I won't survive or something. Not sure why.

Hahaha. We'll all survive... hopefully. xD My parents worry a lot about me, as usual.

My parents are worried, but its nothing compared to my friends. At least my boyfriend gets it. He knows I'll be fine.

Parents get naturally worried when they can't supervise their child and send him/her off to far away places. My dad asked me to call him every night. Hopefully he'll be satisfied with a short messge or email.

My parents will definitely be bugging me constantly.

Where are you guys from, anyway? I'm from Michigan, just outside of Detroit. But as I've said, my grandparents live near Pittsburgh and I'm staying w/ them.

I'm from CA.

My parents want me to email them EVERY night. Amazing...
I think I'll email them every 3 days instead. Haha.

I've been away every summer at places like this, so my parents are used to it. But, I've got a pretty close relationship to them, so over the summer I usually try to call every night before I head off to bed - just to give them a quick recap of the day. Mostly because neither of them went to camp, so I know that everything I'm doing is much more exciting for them than for me.
It also keeps them updated so they don't worry about me.
