This whole waitlist process is so cruel on applicants.

If my qualifications weren’t good enough for CMU, I wish I’d received a direct rejection from them, rather than have them keep me hanging like this. I think I could’ve dealt with the disappointment better if it came earlier on. Now I have entrance exams to write for colleges in my own country, and I don’t know how I’m supposed to just put all this aside and continue with my preparations.

I may be over-reacting to this, but CMU was my first preference and this priority waitlist status made me, perhaps foolishly, believe that I actually had a chance of making it through. I feel like they dangled the offer of admission in front of my face then quickly snatched it away from me.

When it comes down to it college admissions are full of ******** they don’t care if they waste our time or not. They should get rid of the regular wait list and just reject us this is just plain stupid. I’ll take rejection over wait list any day since wait list is just false hope for most people. Only the small few will ever get off it

I’m just curious as to how many got off the MCS priority waiting list. It might be fun to wait till june 1st but I don’t think there is any point with the regular waitlist. Really don’t get why they said they’d take people off of it in the email if they took next to no one from MCS etc. for PWL itself.

I got an email the day before I got accepted asking if I’d like to stay on the Dietrich waitlist. I replied back saying Yes, and the next day, they said I was in!! And yes I’m going, I sent my enrollment deposit in and everything! I’m beyond excited, these things never happen to me. lol.

Congrats to everyone who got into Dietrich! That’s great!

My S had been admitted to Dietrich but decided not to go - he actually wanted to be in SCS (waitlisted) but loved liberal arts as well. It seems like a great school, and I hope you all have a wonderful time there.
