CMU Silicon Valley vs. UCLA

Hey y'all,

I am deciding between CMU Silicon Valley and UCLA for a master's in computer science. I just wanted to know what everyone thinks of the two institutions with respect to computer science. I know CMU in Pittsburgh is a phenomenal CS school, but I do not know much about CMU in Silicon Valley. Could anyone shed some light?

I appreciate it a lot!

Thanks.

Both sound attractive. What does the assistantship scene look like for you? Do you think you might get one? If so, just follow the money.

If no assistantship, go to UCLA if you are a California resident. It will certainly be cheaper than CMUSV.

Hi,

Thanks for the reply! I did receive an assistantship for CMU but it is not much in relation to the overall tuition. Disregarding price, what are your thoughts on the two programs?

Did you sign up for the open houses?

No, I can’t make the open house. I will still be in school and I actually have a final that day haha.

@LongPrime are you going??

They do have 2 open houses.

I am not a CMU student. I am a parent of a CMU BS’06,
