This may sound like a stupid question, but are ppl really happy to be at CMU? Is there a sense of school pride and community, or just individualistic attitudes?

From your messages on this board, it looks like you are having plenty of second thoughts about going to CMU. If you're not sure that's what you want, maybe you should consider other options.

Anyway, I can't tell if you'll be happy or not at CMU (whatever "happiness" means!). Keep in mind though that college is not an extension of High School , although some kids would like it to be. Wherever you go then, things are likely to be different from what you're used to. Part of growing up is precisely being able to adjust to new circumstances and a new environment.

I'd say there is a fair amount of school pride and community ... off campus. Like I'll take up a conversation if I run into someone from CMU around the city, but I'm not likely to run around campus with Tartan body paint.

cmu is definately NOT a place with school spirit

there is lots of work prepared for you though!
