I just got an email last night from the College of Nanoscale Science and Engineering at SUNY Albany saying I was accepted, but I have not heard anything from SUNY at Albany itself.

Did anyone else apply to CNSE and did you hear back from the one department or both?

Hey, I’m applying to enter next fall, and I am very excited! Just out of curiosity, what were your SAT’s scores? Or anything you consider might have helped you being accepted at CNSE. Thanks!

My SAT super scored to a 2200 or 1520 CR+M and I had a 34 on the ACT. I also had a 97 unweighted average with 7 AP classes and 9 AP exams. I wrote my essay on my long time interest in nanotechnology(it started when I was 12).
But I think it also helped that I’m a girl.

I didn’t end up attending because I realized the program was more engineering technology than actual engineering, but I did get a really nice scholarship from them that blew away all the other schools.

Honestly, this was the only nanotechnology program I applied to, I think there was a school in California that was starting a program, but I was basically restricted to state schools for financial reasons. (It looked like we could pay a lot, but we were pretty sure my dad would lose his job soon and then we wouldn’t be able to pay it at all, and he did get let go in September)

I also applied to a SUNY Buffalo, they have a pretty well respected undergrad engineering department (this is where I’m going), SUNY Geneseo (physics+engineering 5yr program at two schools), and SUNY Stony Brook. Since my plan has
always been to go for my doctorate I planned on getting an undergrad degree in another form of engineering, electrical for now, and then later on specialize on the nanoscale with either my masters or doctorate.
Just another plan if CNSE doesn’t work out.
