Are all showers co-ed at Vassar? Has this been a problem from a safety standpoint?

This thread might help.
Collegedad was some taken aback at the idea of shared bathrooms, but felt much better after he saw them. In Jewett the “bathroom” was a U-shaped room with doors at each end. Along one side was a row of toilet stalls with floor to ceiling walls and (locking) doors, across the end was a row of sinks and along the other side was a row of shower stalls, again with floor to ceiling walls and (locking) doors. Collegekid2 never felt in the least uncomfortable. As a senior she lived in the college apartments, which was 5 or 6 bedrooms with 2 shared bathrooms- the group agreed that the boys would use one and the girls the other b/c the girls liked to keep theirs cleaner than the boys did!
There is also an all-women dorm, Strong.
Co-Ed bathrooms sound scary, but I think all my friends loved them. Students are so respectful of the common spaces and most bathrooms are always very clean. I loved being able to share my bathroom with friends of the opposite gender. The shower stalls and toilets are built with privacy in mind, so the only place you interact is the sink. That said, I loved the conversations I would have with hall mates in the bathroom. It was a surprisingly social space.
