co-ed restroom/bathroom

No, i'm pretty sure he meant that all Iranians are not gay.

There are 0 openly gay people in Iran as an obvious fact because you'd get your head chopped off...

We have no way of knowing what he meant. What he said was, "there are no gay people in Iran." So I'm assuming that's what he meant.

And you might be lucky if it was your head that got chopped off, guys!

there's a blank line for "gender" on the swarthmore application. i got creative with it, even though i identify as female. it's all about inclusiveness. liberal arts college kids tend to be big on subverting the gender binary, as weskid explained. i remember sitting in at the info session at swat last summer. the students talked earnestly about the construction of more gender-neutral bathrooms on campus. only one parent freaked, which was kind of amusing.
my mother only recently learned that we had gender-neutral bathrooms and was a bit wary of the idea, as liberal as she is. i told her it was not a big deal...i'll probably adjust to it quickly...and then she got over it.
but as big as swat and other super-liberal lac's are on subversion of the gender binary, you most definitely could specify on the housing form if you wanted gender-specific bathrooms. there are several halls on campus that have those...and plus there are a few single rooms with private bathrooms. you will be accommodated if it's a housing priority, wherever you go (because seriously, if it's an option at my ultra-liberal school, where wouldn't it be an option?).
