Co-op at UWaterloo

I am really confused about what to make of Waterloo's co-op program. I cannot afford Waterloo without the proceeds from Co-op earnings; however, as an international student in the financial crisis, I see little hope of finding good jobs. Is there any chance that I will land good jobs? Also: What is Waterloo's criteria for selecting applicants for their (best) Co-op jobs? Can I earn $10,000/yr on average through co-op "toil"?

Thanks a lot for your help.

Somebody…anybody?

You would have all the same job opportunities as anyone else in a co-op program.
Waterloo doesn’t select the job applicants, the employer does. You apply for jobs that interest you, have some interviews with employers, then see what job offers you get.

Waterloo facilitates the whole process by finding employers, helping you with resume and interview skills, monitoring and troubleshooting student and employer satisfaction. Your ability to find jobs depends on how much effort you put into resume and interview preparation.

Waterloo stats suggest you can earn between $38,000-$77,000 during the degree program.

ok thanks…anyone else?

Waterloo has one of the best computer departments in the world.

I am doing engineering, not computing so that won’t count

no one else? :(

I guess no one is interested in Waterloo on CC
