When you go to a school and you want to talk to a certain coach... how do you schedule an interview with them... what questions do they ask you during the interview... and about how long is it? Any information would be helpful.

Hey, Im a recent graduate of one of the schools that lots of people talk about on here. Way back when I was entering you just set it up through e-mail with the coach or ask to meet with him once you get there. Its around 30 minutes? maybe? I can’t really remember…they just want to gauge how good you are and your personality.

You typically won’t schedule an actual interview with a coach; in fact, I’m not even sure if they’re allowed to do something that formal. We just watched a game while we were touring the schools, casually chatted afterwards, and exchanged emails/training videos/etc. throughout the application process.

If you fill out a prospective athlete questionaire and drop the coach an email, there is a very good chance the coaches will invite you to sit down with them on our interview day.

cc23 again diplays his\her ignorance. PS coaches are happy to meet with athletes and in the case of the more visible/recruitable sports (hockey, lacrosse, basketball, football) will do their homework.

If you think the lacrosse or hockey coaches at Deerfield, Salisbury, T-P, Andover, Governors etc.(just an example) have no idea of who is coming in, you haven’t been paying attention.

Once you have completed the pre-interview survey, coaches (and orchestra directors!) will know exactly who is touring and interviewing in admissions that day. The school will have arranged some face to face time with them, or worst case scenario if they are on the road, they will leave a card and a personal note and make contact later.

Above two post are dead on. When I went on my interviews I ha seperate 30min sit down interviews with my two my main sports coaches. It really depends on how desirable you are to them. For basketball be prepared to answer why you don’t play AAU, because with only 2 years experience they may want to see that you’ve made more than your middle school team if you haven’t sent n any game tape.
