I have quite an interesting story... I'll be frank and tell you straight away that I am currently enlisted in the CG as a PO3 and attempted to apply to the CGA two years ago when I was a SN and was rejected (thus allowing me to head to A-school). This will be my last year I will be able to apply and am trying to find out if I'm wasting my time...

Honestly, I don't remember my HS GPA off the top of my head, but I believe it was a 3.6 out of 4.0, or at least somewhere up there. I took the ACT and got a 23 (planning on re-taking) and did the other necessary stuff as per my last application - CO reccommendation, PFT, math/English instructor evals...

I believe I didn't get into the Academy because of my lack of extra curriculars and lack of work experience - NONE. I didn't care for my HS enough to join any sports or clubs and, though I was an A student throughout, I did not take any AP courses, and I enlisted almost a month after I graduated high school so I have no work besides my current military enlistment (coming up on three years this July).

With some of this in mind I'm planning on, as I said, re-taking my ACT and volunteering in the community (MWR on base, the SPCA, and the community clinic) and I'm planning on trying to CLEP courses in my spare time. I have college credits from A school now also.

Do you think my lack of extra curriculars kills my chances, or do I have a shot if I buckle down and do the volunteer work? Please help! Any advice is welcome.

(And no I haven't asked any of the officers I work with because I want to know for sure if I'm applying before I let anybody know what I'm planning on attempting)
