Anyone heard back from them? I know they have been out due to hurricane but son submitted 3 weeks ago and is getting anxious to hear!
@Kristiern1 Our D is in the same boat. Still waiting, but know they’ve been out. They closed the campus for at least 2 weeks and we know someone who said some students are now taking a semester off and going back in January.
My son goes to Coastal (non-MT) and this is the first I’ve heard of anyone taking the semester off and just returning in January - I’m not sure what the benefit for that would be. I do know that they are running behind and things are crazy with them trying to fit in their scheduled productions.
I feel like I read online they had a show opening this week maybe. Maybe after the run it will speed things along! @carriemc95 does your son like it there? We visited and thought the campus was lovely.
D heard back today via email (for MT) and submitted her prescreen September 26
@Kristiern1 He loves it, especially when all the tourists go home and they have Myrtle Beach to themselves! He will send me snapchats of him and his friends on the beach “studying.”
Hmmm… Thanks @ac2680. He submitted his on 9/18 and no word. Now I am more confused. Did it come through Acceptd?
@Kristiern1 no, it was an email sent directly to her email address. You may want to have him check spam folders and / or reach out to them.
@Kristiern1 - Please send me a PM if you still haven’t heard and I will check into your status with Monica, Head of Recruitment. Things were definitely disrupted up due to the hurricane but they’re getting back on track.
If anyone else has waited longer than they expected, please feel free to send me a PM as well and I will see what I can do.
I don’t know of any BFA majors who have decided to leave for the semester and return in January, but as I work remotely for the department from NYC, I could be wrong.
We just had David Perlman on campus taking promotional photos for our senior showcase and headshots for the senior class. “The Pillowman” opens tonight (albeit a truncated run) and “A Little Night Music” opens October 24th, also for a limited run, on our larger stage at Wheelwright Auditorium. “Our Town” is on track and our student directed production of “In the Blood” was pushed back but will also still happen.
Who was the emai from?
@AlexaMT Thank you - PM sent.
Using this platform to also say: for anyone who passes the pre-screen and/or plans on auditioning for CCU in the future, the best way to keep up with what’s going on in the department is to follow the official Facebook fan page. You don’t even need a Facebook account to see most of the updates.
I can’t link on CC but it’s “Coastal Carolina University Department of Theatre”- like/follow the page (not the “group”). The website is run through the university and thus gives us less room to share things and takes longer to update.
Thanks!
A
@AlexaMT , one of the things that has impressed us about Coastal Carolina is how much support they give on social media to the current students/alumni on their ongoing projects. It has been really great to see what everyone is busy doing!
@afterp89 and everyone else- Just wanted to chime in and say no one that we know of is taking off a semester and coming back in January. All the theatre majors (and all the other students we know of) are back at it and working hard. If anyone has any questions for a current BFA parent feel free to reach out to me. My D is a junior BFA MT.
Thank you @stagedoormama !
Happy to report we finally got news today that he was invited to audition! Thanks especially to @AlexaMT for her help in getting us in contact with the right person. Notification was sent on 10/3 but we never received. If you haven’t heard yet I would definitely check in!
@Kristiern1 Congrats to your S - unfortunately a no for my D. I was more disappointed than her - she wants to try and stay north.
Sorry to hear this @afterp89. It will be a long year of waiting and ups & downs for us all!
