Cockrell (Aerospace)

I've read these forums for a few months now, and I have yet to find anyone asking about Aerospace engineering at UT. How selective is it? ...compared to electrical, biomed, etc. Is there a reason for not many people applying for it? Is it a dead major or something? I'm just very confused right now. I mean, it seems like a cool major. I would just expect more people to be interested in it.

It’s one of the easier engineering majors to gain acceptance to and tends to be less popular because aerospace engineering is a very specialized field with limited job prospects, unlike mechanical engineering which is similar but more versatile. Then again, many aerospace students feel like they’re living out a childhood dream in designing airplanes/spaceships, so the poorer job market does not phase them.
