can we room coed =) (not suites; i know that most suites are coed)

Officially, no.

Unofficially, whatever you can work out with your roommate(s).

My husband and I had a two-person suite in MacGregor my senior year. We moved both beds to one room and both desks to the other and had a little apartment.

So I will tell you a story.

I chatted with some people before getting to MIT, and I met someone that I totally clicked with. We had the same sense of humor and wanted to live in the same halls in EC, and we knew that we’d make fantastic roommates, except he’s a boy and I’m a girl.

So we plotted for the entire summer about how we were going to work out rooming together and came up with all of these plans, and he had a temp roommate and hung out in my temp single a lot, and we totally didn’t want to room anyone except for each other.

We went through hall rush and filled out our housing preferences together, and we wanted to staple our sheets except they wouldn’t let us. And we freaked out about who these new strange people we were going to have to share our lives with would be.

Then, we both got singles and it didn’t matter anymore. So don’t worry about it.
