Does anyone know how the cognitive science classes/programs are at Duke (like MIT's Brain and Cognitive Science program)? I know there is a certificate in neuroscience, but I was wondering if there was more? Current students pursing cogsci, please reply as well!

I know there is a neuroscience concentration within the biology department (I'm considering it myself). You can also look at Program 2 (design your own major). There are definitely a plethora of classes in the bio and psych departments available for you to choose from if you decide to do that.

I know those who study neuroscience and it is quite a strong program. They recently renamed to Psychology department to "Department of Psychology and Neuroscience" to emphasize the shift. There are tons of neuroscience/cog sci courses at Duke within the psychology and biology departments. Getting a BS in biology or psychology makes the most sense, while taking these courses to get the certificate. You need to fulfill the requirements for you major plus 2 core neuroscience courses plus around 5 electives in neuroscience. These are usually cross-listed though so you can fulfill major and neuroscience requirements with the same course I believe.

As stated earlier, currently you can major in Biology or Psychology and concentrate in Neuroscience. The certificate is an option too even if you major in something else.

There are talks about Neuroscience becoming its own legit major in a year or two so hopefully that will be an option for your class.
