Colby is definitely one of my top choices. It has such a good academic program (including J-term) plus it doesn't seem like I'd get bored here easily. Unfortunately my dad doesn't really think so. Are there any specific reasons why Colby is better than say, Grinnell or Oberlin?

1) It is in New England, a great place to go to college.
2) It has a lower acceptance rate, meaning more people want to go there.

Those are some reasons, although I could make arguments for each. Either way you go, you will have a great college experience, these are all very fine schools.

Yeah, wildcatdude's got the right idea. All three schools are great (or so say my friends at Oberlin); it really depends on where you feel you'll be most successful/happy. I'm here because of a gut decision, and I still don't regret it!

Also, if you're considering schools like Grinnell and Oberlin, I doubt you're going to be "bored" at Colby. Big city universities offer a lot of interesting activities on a day to day basis; and us small, isolated schools can't really compete with their resources. However, the people here are interesting, passionate, and downright excitable enough that there's a lot of "make your own fun" sort of nonsense going on. I'd imagine that it's similar in that way to a lot of other small, rural LAC's.

Well, I would prefer Colby because of its New England location.
