I’m surprised there are no virtual opportunities for newly admitted students. Other schools DD received acceptances to have robust virtual events.
I’m not sure about the presidential, but my daughter received the bunche scholarship and I believe it comes with 3K to be used towards a project or summer work. For bunche there seems to be some mentorship and group work but not much. I think the presidential is similar but possibly it offers more money?
Got accepted off the waitlist this morning! I sent a LOCI a few days ago with some fairly minor academic updates and a restatement of my interest in the school.
Congrats!!
Wow, that is really early. Congrats!
Yes, and the first time they’ve done it before May 1. Sounds odd!
just got my accepted package and it had a personalized letter from the person who read my app!
Same here - great work Colby!

Does anyone have a suggestion for a hotel near colby? They look pretty similar but wondering if one is preferred?
Hampton Inn is probably the closest to campus and best of Waterville hotels, but books up very quickly.
Thanks!
@piperfitch , if the Hampton Inn Waterville is booked (definitely closest), the Hampton Inn in Augusta is not as far away as it may seem on a map. (Ask me how I know this!!)
Agreed. The Augusta hotels right by the highway are perfectly fine and easy.
While I’m asking, any restaurant recommendations? To get a feel of places students generally like? We are going the weekend ahead of the admitted students weekend and taking the general tour so we will need to get a feel for the area on our own. Have never visited before.
There are a number of decent places in Waterville. Not the restaurant scene of Portland, but plenty of variety.
I always liked Riverside Farm Market Cafe in Oakland.
My S doesn’t have a car, so I have fewer ideas. But that I can offer:
Amici’s (Italian, in town) with parents paying
Selah Tea (in town)
Pad Thai Too (near campus)
Grand Central Cafe (pizza)
Gifford’s Ice Cream
I would add Proper Pig in downtown Waterville for a burger/pub option to the great restaurant suggestions you have already received.
