I just got into Colby. I am really excited about it. I also have an offer from Kenyon. Both of the offers are very tempting. I want to major in bio. I don't know which school can offer me a good bio program plus i don't which school has a greater acceptance rate into good graduate schools. I really need your help.

yeah i got into both also and am trying to debate between them and grinnell and bates.
anyway, i can tell you that one of the things kenyon is known for is the summer science research program. since you’re doing bio i’m sure that would be a great opportunity for you.

Tufts Medical School has a Maine track for admissions and a new program this year where students at Colby, Bates, Bowdoin and U Maine can apply after sophomore year to Tufts Medical School and if accepted into the program they are assured of admission to the medical school when they graduate. It’s described on the Tufts medical school website under special admissions options. There are many pre-meds at Colby and students are successful in applying to many medical schools but this new option is very appealing since it could take a lot of the stress out of the application process–and of course Tufts is a great medical school.

Kenyon’s science buildings are newer and better than the ones at Colby. Both schools have fine programs and good acceptance rates to medical schools (Kenyon’s is above 90% I don’t know Colby’s but I’m sure it’s comparable).

If you know what specialty you’re interested in, and a really significant factor in your decision is the experience in the major, you might want to e-mail the (plant-, ornithology-, neurobiology-, animal-, genetic-, or whatever) biologist at both schools and ask a few basic questions about the major, research opportunities, how common it is for students to co-author publications, grad school placement, or whatever is important to you. Maybe you’ll get some info that’s useful in distinguishing the two programs, or link up with a prof whom you can envision as a mentor.
