<p>I'd be interested in perceptions of these schools for a kid who doesn't know where his interests will take him. In addition to what life is like while a student, I'd appreciate thoughts on employability/grad school chances coming out of these schools (recognizing that that will depend on, among other things, area of interest and area of the country). <p>Both schools are of similar academic quality, and both will get him into great grad schools. However, both have different campus cultures/student bodies -- Colby is more preppy which Macalester tends to attract more off-beat/liberal types. I'd therefore go for the school where your son feels most at home and comfortable with the social atmosphere. It might require a visit to both schools to determine which he prefers.</p>
