<p>His note at the bottom of his acceptance letter:</p>

<p>"Hello, Stephen! Your many talents and adventures have taken you around the world and back. We are excited about all that you will do at Colgate, and I would love to hear more about your travels when you arrive on campus!"</p>

<p>He wrote his essay on his school trip to Africa and his experiences while there. The rest refers to his main activities - chess, fencing and debate.</p>
