Accepted EDII! :D :D :D

I came home today and pulled the mail from my mailbox... saw a thick envelope from Colgate and my heart jumped, but last time it was only thier viewbook and I was all excited over nothing. Still anxious, I rushed inside... and what do I find? A calendar, car-sticker, wonderful acceptance letter and a $42,050 financial aid award. The only thing I could think? "OMGOMGOMGOM!!one!1!" :D

He wrote me the most wonderful personal note... my stats were previously posted for anyone curious, but oh my goodness, I can't imagine being happier!

Stats in short:
SAT 2170 (690 - 750 - 730)
SAT II (lousy~) 660 Chem and 650 Math
GPA: 3.82 UW

Colgate University Class of 2010! :D

woot... i hope i get in too

I think you'll get in. =) Your stats were similar-ish to mine, except your SATIIs are much better. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you!

Congrats! I've been looking for your announcement in the past week since I knew they should be out quite soon. So, what did Gary Ross write? He never sleeps during this time of the year, haha.

Start getting in touch with me, okay? After all, I'll be seeing YOU in the fall.

Thanks :)

"Hello Ashley,
Thank you for your very powerful, moving and impressive application. You are an extraordinary young woman and I am already very proud of you. I look foward to meeting you, as well as Spock and Data in August.
Congratulations Ashley!"

(Spock and Data are my two fish that I said I'd bring to Colgate in my essay.)

I'd be glad to contact you-- I'll actually be visiting sometime before the end of February. I'm certainly looking forward to it!

For people who got financial aid, did Colgate meet your full need?

For me, they definitely did. I only need to pay 3k a year between my parents and I and that's without scholarships.

If you don't mind, what were your financial stats? (parental income, savings account, home equity, etc) That's a WHOLE lotta of money you got there...$42000.

did anyone else get that much money in financial aid??? That seems like a lot... I applied for it but didn't end up qualifying for any at all..

Wow! Congratulations, existentialpony.I'm jealous with your admission and financial aid offers. I hope I will have a chance of studying at the same college as you next year. :)

How much of the 42K was grants (rather than loans), existentialpony? I too am applying for financial aid, and the fact that they gave you so much financial aid seems really encouraging. Oh, and congratulations again on your acceptance. Thanks in advance for the information.

I don't have the paper on-hand (Mum stole it. heh) but I believe there was only $1500 in loans.

Whoa, that's really incredible. That's one of the best financial aid awards I've ever seen. Congratulations.

congradulations I guess I'll be seeing you in august (I was accepted early decision). I only just discovered this site and I cannot believe there are so many fellow class of 2010 out there.

Glad to hear it! :) Congratuations as well.

From the Colgate Student Handbook:

"Pets are not allowed in University-managed residences or in or around the dining areas. Students who are found with pets, whether visiting or owned by the student, will be subject to an automatic $50.00 fine and an additional $10.00 per day after the University has requested that the pet be removed."

Well, that explains the amount of your generous financial award....they plan to get it back from you!

Congrats

They do have an allowance for fish. I made a point of investigating that before writing about it. Heh. :) Anything under a 20 gallon tank.

"No pets other than small aquarium fish (in tanks no larger than 20-gallon capacity) are allowed in the residence halls, college houses, or apartments..."

Congrats!!Full Aid!This is really cool!

Congratulations Ashley!!
