@bj2014 let’s just wait for 3.23 and call the admissions office
Rejected from Colgate. 3.9 uw, 4.4 w (coming from a very competitive prep school) 32 ACT. Accepted to Lehigh, UW, waitlisted at Wash U and BC, waiting on Cornell/USC. Surprised at the decision. Received the letter today, I am from AZ so they should be arriving on the rest of the West Coast by now.
is it weird not to have heard anything in CA by today?
@acollegebound198 nah I’m in CA and I haven’t gotten anything yet. It’s 10:31 pm here so I don’t think fedex will be coming anytime soon LOL
@dorothylewes you never know i’ve heard fedex has started making midnight deliveries
@dorothylewes but seriously good to know thanks!
@acollegebound198 oh dang, and my packages still don’t come on time and I bet it’ll be here tommrow are you SoCal or NorCal?
@dorothylewes I’m NorCal, what about you?
@acollegebound198 o I’m SoCal, according to last year threads, NorCal got it first
Accepted international with $56,000 aid.
@Lucas1998 congrats! which country are you from?
@mp09cc14 it can’t hurt to ask but I know you need a change in circumstance for most colleges to consider an appeal for financial aid. Check the Colgate website to see how you can appeal.
@admitmemaybe it’s cool that we’re applying to a lot of the same places! I hope you get in to them!
@mp09cc14. The calculator is only an estimate. You don’t have much luck drastically changing the aid reward. If they gave you 13K, they won’t turn around and all of a sudden give you 30K. Not going to happen, UNLESS some circumstance has suddenly happened that wasn’t there when you submitted application (like a loss of a job, family costly illness, etc.) or upon looking over your application you suddenly notice a big mistake in what you submitted. good luck.
@scoobydoo7. I would have thought I would agree with you. But seeing my D’s eyes light up when she saw a big envelope and the individual note written to her by the Dean of Admissions was priceless. 1000 times better than an email. The note was so personalized that it made us feel ecstatic about being accepted to Colgate. Something to be said about being old school.
Scrolling through all the emails of the stats of those who got rejected, leaves me a bit humbled that my D was accepted. She had the grades and test scores - 3.96 UW avg, and a 33ACT and 2270SAT and a boat load of activities - but many of you had the same or better.
From a parent’s viewpoint, my heart goes out to those who did not get in. Who knows what the admissions office is looking for when they review an application. What little bit of information did they see in one app, but not in another. How do they determine which one’s stand out (in their mind) and choose to accept.
You all should be proud of what you accomplished in High School. Don’t let anyone say otherwise. You all will get into great colleges with your grades and scores. Here’s hoping the best success in your future!
Hey, got accepted to Colgate. I’m thinking what I should choose between Colgate and UCLA. I’m an econ major. Could you guys give some advices on what is better?
@eiknarf Thank you so much for the kind words!! I was waitlisted and a bit disappointed but that was so nice! Congrats to you and your daughter
My S was accepted today-woo hoo! As was said earlier about another acceptee-his stats were in the right zone (3.97 uw 4.3 w GPA, 32 ACT, excellent EC’s) but not any different than many who posted here who did not get in. Who knows how they make their choices when they have such a strong group of candidates! And I have to agree, the personal note is a very nice touch.
I don’t know UCLA well other than that it is a superb, beautiful, very large school. Not sure how you can compare the two since they are different in almost every respect. Small, cold climate, LAC vs large, warm climate national university. Congrats on having such a great choice to have to make!!
