@yash22 I got accepted via email!! still haven’t received mail though…but the relief is immense!! maybe we will go to Colgate together
How is the math being done for a 10% acceptance rate? They take in more students than the number that attend because no school has 100% yield. Last year the yield was about 36% which means they took about 2000 and change. Thanks. Not giving you a hard time, just really curious what acceptance rate is this year.
I was just wondering how many of you guys sent in multiple ACT scores and if you think that made a difference. I know Colgate superscores
Waitlisted…anyone know how many people they put on the wait list?
@panpnyc , look at the thread on post #310. Not sure what year that’s from or if it’s an average, but really a lot! Roughly half decided to stay on the WL and fewer than 10% actually attended.
I’d guess that by August, there are still a lot of people who haven’t taken themselves off the list who would no longer be interested, which may be why they let it get so long, but my sense of this is that if you’re on the WL, it’s highly unlikely – but not impossible – that you’ll be matriculating in Sept. With that said, someone on the WL will, so why not you?
Hey everyone! Congrats to all the accepted and good luck to people still waiting.
I just got my package here in Argentina and I was accepted and named a Benton Scholar! Feeling very excited and happy right now. This thread was really helpful while waiting for mine so I’ll post my info to try and help too.
International from Argentina, never got an email, got my package today at 3:00 pm ( an hour ago), it was from Fed ex, it was thick with a few brochures and papers as well as a calendar, I could see the new student checklist when it was up but can no longer see it, my portal still looks the same.
Hey, how are you guys finding out acceptances or not? I thought it was all by mail.
I think some are confusing the “8300 applicants for 700 spots” to be the ratio for the admit rate. If those numbers are correct, and the 36% yield is still what they anticipate, they would have accepted ~1950 applicants, which is an acceptance rate of 23%, down from 26% last year.
Okay, so I had just typed out the following: “So is anyone in CA still waiting for an answer?” and I was about to hit post when I saw a Fed Ex truck drive past my office window. I jumped up and saw the truck turn around and park in front of our house. I ran out and almost hugged the Fed Ex lady, and told her that was my daughter’s college acceptance letter!! I am so happy for my daughter!! I just texted my daughter, and now I have to wait till she gets home from school to open it
@kobb423 I was accepted yesterday and also was chosen for the Benton Scholar program! It was such an honor. I’m from California, I made an account because I saw what you posted about being a Benton Scholar and got excited! Did you apply under the Peace and Conflict Studies major? Congrats to everyone who got in, and to all who didn’t, don’t give up hope. You’ll end up where you need to be!
Anyone else in Ohio get it yet? I’m in Cleveland, and haven’t gotten anything.
@123collegeCA Congratulations on being accepted too and on the Benton Scholar program! I actually applied citing Computer Science as my plan for my major, but my personal essay was about being international and multiculturalism so I believe that may have been why.
SoCal here, just received the package from FedEx
SoCal here and just got accepted
@kobb423 oh that makes sense! I actually had a similar theme in my essay but with a spin about languages. That’s so neat! Congrats!
SoCal resident and just got accepted! 4.0UW 4.83W 32ACT & lots of extracurriculars
Accepted: University of Michigan, University of Wisconsin-Madison, University of Washington, Tulane University
Waitlisted: Washington U in St. Louis
Waiting for: Duke & Penn
Congratulations to everyone else who was accepted!
Accepted in Georgia.
I’m from Long Island, NY and have not received any type of notification from Colgate by mail… I assume that means I have been rejected? But I thought they would at least notify me of my rejection, wouldn’t they? Is anyone else in this situation? …Anyway, congrats to all of you who got in!
@Bluebrry UCLA is a large, state university with extensive graduate school population and located next to Bel Air and Brentwood in Los Angeles. It is a large world-class institution and it feels every bit like such. Colgate is a completely different kind of experience. Please do some research to help you make an informed experience.
@Bluebrry - My daughter has been accepted to both UCLA and Colgate (her goal is med school after graduation) and we are facing the same decision. Honestly, we prefer Colgate for so many reasons: the location, the weather (we are tired of monotonous So Cal weather), the small school atmosphere, small class sizes, and the overall experience. Even though my daughter already has her first two years worth of credits in the UC system completed due to dual enrollment, we still prefer a full four years at Colgate just so she’s not lost in the huge crowd at UCLA. We think UCLA is an awesome school, but will likely go with Colgate. You really just need to figure out what is the best fit for your personality because they are both excellent options.
