Why Colgate? What are you most passionate about?

Yeah-- why do you want to go to Colgate?

Cooper- I think you have a great chance of being accepted for a number of reasons.

Your grades and SATs are def in line with Colgate numbers.
You have met the admissions officer, you have something in common and that is a HUGE plus for you.
You are paying full price, you prob know Colgate is not need blind, so they love people who pay, another HUGE plus for you.

I would not worry too much if I were you.

I know why Colgate- because Colgate is awesome! I visited this week and it is beautiful!

Please post when you get in. :)

tribegirl–your post conveyed a genuine interest in Colgate (but why is it awesome to you?)

Cooper11 just stated stats. Is he/she really interested in Colgate? If so, why? In other words, so your stats are ok, but what else? Admissions wants to know.

Remember, we are just trying to help.

My son was accepted to Colgate!!!. I think applying early decision and not applying for financial aid helped greatly!!! I think his interest in music had a huge impact helped especially playing the french horn, something he had in common with the admissions officer he met several times. Best of luck to everyone!!!

What is the proper etiquette for informing admissions officers elsewhere that one was accepted e.d. at another school? Do you specify the institution you will be attending in the fall or just state you are rescinding your application and are attending “another” institionl? Your immediate responses are greatly appreciated! Best of luck to everyone!

An overjoyed, proud and relieved Colgate mom!

Your son can send either an email or a short letter saying that he is withdrawing his application. There’s no need to say where he’s going, although some colleges may write back and ask. Congrats!!

Congratulations! Yes, be sure to withdraw the other applications. A short note is enough, and you can either identify the school you have chosen or not. That’s up to you. But, of course, thank the other admissions people for their time and effort. Good for you!
