Whilst researching schools today, I was pleasantly surprised to see that Colgate was awarded with a prestigious 4.8/5 ranking by Google, scoring higher than just about every school in the country such as HYP, Johns Hopkins, Georgetown, Notre Dame, Williams and more. From a personal standpoint, I would not be surprised if Colgates admission rate dropped from 29% to round 9-15% by the time I apply in two years. I curious about how others feel on this topic and would love to hear your opinions.

I totally agree with you, however I do feel that Colgate will eventually break #1in the LA taking down Williams. Colgate scored SIGNIFICANTLY higher than Williams, AMherst and Swarthmore.

I never heard of Google rankings. How do they rank it? When did they start ranking schools?
Even without that ranking, I know Colgate is fast rising up.

They rank schools on a five scale with five being best and an absolute zero being worst. Colgate reached a 4.8, scoring higher than any school i’ve ever seen. I would not be surprised if admissions rates dropped to around 10% in the next few years.

That “google ranking” is not a ranking, but just a review of sorts. I’m a current student here, and I doubt Colgate will ever “take down” Williams in a million years. Colgate is good, but not exceptional.

If a particular ranking system makes the school you like look great, then it has validity in your mind. If your school does not rank well using a particular set of parameters, then one tends to down play the rating.
