Hello,
I am a Belgian girl who’s applying to Colgate University ED. Here are some of my stats;
Grades: I have all A’s and 5 B’s in total (all of high school) I have taken 13 courses per trimester so this is considered very good here in Belgium.
Standardized testing: TOEFL: 111/120
SAT: 1260/1600 (87th percentile)
Math 1 and French subject tests: yet to find out.
Languages: English, Dutch, and French (I also take Latin in school). Dutch is my mother tongue and the language that my classes are taught in.
International experiences (school): - Visiting student in Indiana for two months in my junior year
- Visiting student in California for two months in my sophomore year
Extracurriculars: Piano (all throughout high school), Musical theory and culture classes, (all throughout high school), Singing classes (all throughout high school), dressage and horse jumping (all throughout high school), alpine skiing (all throughout high school).
Volunteer work: I work in a fair trade shop (since sophomore year) where I fill the shelves but also make people more aware of the advantages of buying fair trade.
I also tutor both through school and on my own. I tutor in English, Dutch, French, and Latin.
Facts that might be important:
- I am graduating a year early as in elementary school my teacher was concerned about me. I did an IQ test and skipped third grade because of the IQ test's result.
- My personal statement is pretty great ( that's what the people that have read it tell me ) and my letters of recommendation will be too. ( I asked teachers that really adore me).
- Furthermore, I plan on studying international relations or conflict and peace studies.
- I am applying for financial aid but both my parents are senior scientists so we are pretty well off...
- There are no Belgians yet enrolled in Colgate University
