Colgate vs. Colby Social Life

Please help!! I’m trying to decide between Colgate and Colby for ED. I have visited both and love them. I know they both have great academics, but I really would like to have an active social life as well. I’ve heard a lot about greek life at Colgate that generally seems positive, but I’ve also heard the administration has been cracking down on it. Con anyone confirm this?? Also since you don’t rush until your sophomore year, what do you do socially for all of freshmen year?? With Colby, I know most of the parties are hosted by sports teams, but where are they?? Is it super divided between the athletes and non-athletes?? And before all the moms come for me in the comments, yes I know I’m going to college to study not party, but these are helpful things to know.

Check out the Colby forum. This came up a little over a months ago.

It’s ironic that you are focusing on parties in these times of social distancing etc with all resources focused on keeping Covid off the campus.

In any case, you might as well dig deep into what the colleges’ websites say has been provided as social outlets at these residential colleges. In the case of Colgate it is the Commons system that brings together freshmen and sophomores especially as a complement to diversions related to students’ academic pursuits.

Good luck with your evaluations and applications.

Go ‘gate!
