I can't decide!! Help!

In order to get a meaningful and useful dialogue underway, I recommend that you review the suggestion offered to the poster regarding Villanova (below).

sorry to clarify:

Im interested in studying international relations…although I know wake forest doesn’t have an international relations major so i would study political science with a minor in international relations or health policy or something like that.

I am not against frats/sororities, but I am a little worried about the heavy presence of them at wake. I know Colgate has its fair share though as well

As for sports, I really want a school with a lot of team spirit, so that is important to me

I know that Colgate’s academics are ranked higher but does anyone know if its that significant…I am sure I will get as good an education at both schools but if anyone would like to comment

I HATE cold weather. But I feel ridiculous making a college decision off of the weather and hope that I could just suck it up if I went to colgate. If anyone knows anythinga bout how the weather has affected them at colgate that would be great

Basically I have about 4 days left to decide and just cannot make a decision! They’re both such different schools but at the same time I feel that they have a lot in common and I really cannot go wrong either way.

Colgate’s IR department is very popular, as is Poli Sci. Unfortunately as I wasn’t in either of them, I can’t really say much more specifically.

Greek life at Colgate is present but not overwhelming. Only 30% of all students are involved (there’s sophomore rush, so only 40% of eligible students are involved).

There is a lot of school spirit around certain sports (football and hockey especially) and you’ll definitely see lots people wearing Colgate gear around campus. However, other sports are less well attended. I did a survey on sport attendance for a sociology class and the biggest reason that people don’t attend isn’t because they don’t care, but because they’re way too involved in other activities on campus and too busy to do everything!

Not knowing anything about Wake Forest’s academics, I can’t compare. However, Colgate has no TAs, small, discussion-based classes, research opportunities, etc. so that you can really get a fantastic, top-notch education working directly with professors that you couldn’t get at a larger research university.

I hate the cold as well, but really didn’t mind it at Colgate. You bring long-underwear, a down coat, gloves and a hat and you’re fine. The snow is so gorgeous and handled so well (heated stairs, plowing before classes start in the morning, etc.) that I actually miss it now. It’s beautiful and warm in the early fall, the colors of the trees are amazing, and the spring (usually) gets pretty nice as well.

I grew up in the northeast, so I was used to the cold and it didn’t bother me at Colgate. If you don’t like it, however, you need to know that Colgate is COLD COLD COLD and SNOWY SNOWY SNOWY. It’s about as cold as Chicago, Cleveland and Detroit, and probably even snowier than any of them. Very harsh and long winters. I’m not trying to talk you out of it, just letting you know.
