I have applied to prestigious schools like Ivys and Stanford. Now I am taking 3 AP courses at my high school and dual-enrolling 2 colleges classes this semester, and nothing else.

One of the college classes is a Senior + Graduate Math course, which I have a D in. If I drop this class, the transcript will say I have "Withdrawn"from it. Previously in Common App, I said I would take 2 challenging college courses; however, it is too hard.

I think I will have either D/F in this class. Do you recommend me to drop this class although that means I will be taking only 4 courses this semester? Does this affect admission?

I am not an expert, but I think a W with an explanation that you “bit off more than you could chew” would look better than a D or F which could affect your college GPA, if you are taking it for credit. An explanation like, "I am an ambitious student, but a novice as to the expectations of a senior level/grad math college class, or something along those lines would suffice. As long as all of your other grades are still good, I am sure they would allow for your youthful enthusiasm for learning, as well as your inexperience. BTW, how did they ever allow you to enroll for this class ???

Thanks for answering. The reason I could take this class was that I exhausted all math courses upto a junior level except for one class, which conflicted with my schedule. This was the next math I could take
