Hi!.....My son has been accepted to West Chester University (in Pa.), Mason Gross School of the Arts at Rutgers and Rowan University-all in the B.M. programs for music education with a major in voice. He is so undecided! Anyone in this forum have any advice or recommendations for him? He is leaning toward Rutgers-but welcomes all comments!.....thanks so much!

Are you located in PA or NJ? That might make a difference for music ed certification. Congrats on the acceptances - I’ve heard good things about all three schools!

I live right near West Chester University and I know a couple music majors that love it there. It is also a great campus and a great college town (I go there all the time).

Rutgers has a strong music program (graduate and undergraduate), including a new opera institute, excellent choral program, first class orchestra, strong jazz program. Rutgers choral singers perform in renown venues, including in NYC at Lincoln Center, and the Glee Club (wonderful group with strong traditions) does European tour at least once every four years. The other programs are mostly undergraduate, which is fine, but exposure to graduate level musicians raises ones standards considerably. Good luck!

leep59, congratulations to you and your son. I am adding your acceptances over at the http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/music-major/1260441-master-list-music-school-acceptances-fall-2012-a-60.html and, once the decision has been made, would like to have that for the http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/music-major/1260860-master-list-final-decisions-fall-2012-a-3.html
