College acceptance

im am currently a high school jr with big dreams. i have a 3.0 but id like to attend an ivy. I have lots of extra curricular activities, volunteer hours, and work experience. I have yet to take the SAT, but i know i will do very well. With all of these together, is there any chance of me getting into an ivy? I ended my freshman year with a 2.1 and will end my jr year with a 3.8 which is an excellent increase. Do you think there is a chance of me getting into any? If not, what are any excellent schools i can get into?

First of all, the Ivies are Reaches for all applicants including perfect GPA, SAT, outstanding essays and EC’s. Based just on your GPA alone, you really have no chance at these schools. I would wait until you get your SAT score and then plug your Stats into the Supermatch feature on this website or use the College Board match. You can select by location, private/public etc… to help narrow down your list and see some real possibilities for college instead of dream colleges. I should add that an upward trend is good and if you feel you might have a sliver of a chance, I would apply to one or two schools.

what are the highest schools i should be looking at ?

Until you have your final GPA and some test scores, it is difficult to give you any recommendations. Start with your Home state. You also need to know how much you and your parents can afford. If you are in need of financial aid, then you can start looking at schools were your Stats would give you good need-based aid and possible merit aid. Much will depend upon your GPA and SAT scores.

3.5* sorry lol

What’s in-state for you?
What’s your parents’ budget? Can they pay their EFC?
Do you have an idea of what field you’d like to pursue (broadly -engineering, humanities… - or more precise: journalism, nursing, languages, math, economics…?)
