College Acceptances: celebrate here!

Is this list humanly possible?

KatwKitten’s S – MIT EA, U of Chicago EA, WPI EA, Emory, Rice ID, USNA/USMA/USAFA, UNC-CH, Vanderbilt, GA Tech, Swarthmore, BC, Northwestern, Dartmouth, Cornell, Duke, Univ of Penn's M&T (Wharton and the School of Engineering) and PRINCETON

I am in awe of this woman...and her son.....incredible choices... I would buy Kat's book. Congratulations 19 times over......

How wonderful and exciting to read all about all of these lovely choices. Congratulations to everyone!

Congratulations to ALL...these are some pretty amazing lists of schools from some pretty amazing students.

I'm new to this board (though my daughter has been perusing it for a couple of years) and I'll report in as a proud parent:

Stanford EA, Columbia, Rice, UCSD, St. Mary's (Calif), but rejected at Yale and Harvard (that's OK-- Stanford was her 1st choice!). We're very excited, and this is our first time through this whole process. It's nice to have all the anxiety and upheaval behind us!

Son has incredible choices: Dartmouth, Brown, U of Chicago,Tufts, USC, Washington at St Louis, Vanderbilt!

Congrats to ALL!!

And thank you. This was child #4, four kiddos in 5 years. For the first time in 6 years I will not be doing the college stuff. Last child is a sophomore so I have a break for a little while.

As a single parent this board has served as my sounding board for many years. The advice here has paid off ten-fold. The proof is in the pudding, son's acceptances! Son was the recipient of numerous suggestions, advice and support, from this board specifically the Parents board and all its very dear posters. My oldest daughter was the first to benefit from all the great ideas and she is graduating in May and off to her grad/vet school.

Again I truly am appreciative of the very generous and ACCURATE advice we as a family have received.

My best wishes to all,

Kat

Congratulations! Again! Menlo Park Mom - where will your S go? Calmom - UChicago? OMG. and Katwkittens - I hope your S goes to Princeton:).

My daughter has received acceptances from Wake Forest, TCNJ, Bucknell, and Colgate. (wait listed Washington & Lee) Still waiting for Notre Dame. YEAH!

Now what do we do? Colgate seeems the strongest, but I'm not sure. Only got financial aid letter from TCNJ and Colgate. Both average, to below.

Would love feedback on these schools.

My D got the phone call this evening accepting her to the art school at Cooper Union. The odds were long (about 5% accepted), but her hard work paid off!

S has long been accepted at West Point and a full ride to George Mason. Now we find out he has been accepted to all he applied to: American university, Geo Washington, UVa, Hopkins and U of Chicago. And Wm and Mary.

Money IS an issue. International studies/Economics as a major.

Just how much input should we have? By the way, S is as surprised as the 'rents are.

Mom of Four's daughter: Got Accepted 12 for 12

Baylor --full tuition, plus $3,000/year
Biola - $7,000 /year
Duke
Pepperdine-- Regent's scholarship $22,000/year
The College of New Jersey -- Full tuition, room and board
UC Berkeley
UC Irvine - Regent's scholarship $9,000/year
UCLA
UC San Diego - Regent's scholarship $2,500/year
UNC Chapel Hill
University of Texas at Dallas -- full tuition
USC (California not Carolina) --Presidential eg 1/2 tuition scholarship

Applying to 12 colleges was a lot but we were trying for Merit scholarships, and I think we aimed accurately as D got scholarships at 8 of the 12.

We knew that she would get full tuition to Baylor, UTD, and TCNJ, which is why we applied to those three safties. We also knew that it was a crapshoot for the top 4 reaches --eg UCB, UCLA Duke and UNC Chapel Hill (she got in to all four, but did not get any merit aid).

The surprise in the mix was D getting the highest scholarship available to Pepperdine which is $22,000/year. . .approx 3/4 of the $31,000/year tuition.

Congrats! Wooow.... That's an impressive list of acceptances and awards.

RDGirl, congratulations to your son on a fine list of colleges! As a parent, you should certainly tell him exactly what you can afford - that is as important a factor in the decision process as anything else. My husband and I established an "upper limit" of what we can afford, and daughter knew that she would not be attending any above the limit unless she came up with scholarships/work, etc. to pay the difference. We'll also be pointing out that if she chooses a college that is well under the "limit", we will be able to afford study abroad.

Good luck with the decision!

My son received his acceptance packet this morning!

He was previously accepted at:

Miami of Ohio - full ride
Ohio University - full tuition
Xavier University - scholarship
Tulane University - scholarship, I forget the amount
University of Findlay - President's Scholarship

All great schools, but he's headed to South Bend. :)

Accidentally on my sons screen!

Scripps College came through like a champ. Nice JES merit scholarship guaranteed 1/2 tuition with a preferentially packaged FA award (no loans) that puts them right with Colgate's AMS and Hamilton's Schambach. 3 very generous schools.

I'll go ahead and declare prior to hearing from Amherst admissions or FA, and prior to Yale FA - by the thinnest of margins, this is Dad's pick (and has been for a while). This is the one I wanted to happen. Of course if Yale (or Amherst, if admitted) gives us a livable package , I can be "persuaded" to change my vote.;)

Sounds great, Cur. But lets hope that Yale and Amherst come through with a super FA package just to see that "puddle of pee" LOL!

Your D has such great options, it's a no lose situation. Lucky girl!

Can't wait to hear what Mudgarella decides! But I guess our girls won't get to be roommates :-(

We're done here - seven acceptances (most with $$) and two waitlists. Daughter is very happy with her options, and has a very tough decision to make.

RDgirl - need-based financial aid can vary from year to year - you will need to submit FA paperwork (FAFSA, etc) each year.

I am so happy to read all of the exciting news! I hope everyone is still celebrating, and I wish your children all the best over the next few weeks as they mull over their options! Congratulations to them all!

firefly, don't give up on the roommate thing just yet . I get a vote, certainly - it just doesn't count. ;)

Curmudgeon,

Where have I been??? Congrats to you and your DD!
