jmmom, I'm so sorry. I knew you were there. Sorry. Sorry. Sorry. Sorry.

I was thinking more of folks who had not put an asterisk by the kid's name in the acceptance thread or posted in the final decision thread. Lowly hyper-ventilating entering freshmen (and the parents thereof), not big strong transfer kids (and the parents thereof).

If its any consolation Jmmom, my transferring son doesn't plan to decide whether or not he is attending college next fall until some time in July - the college starts in August. He'll do whatever he needs to to hold his place, but he's waffling.

Congratulations, Cami, to you and your son on what sounds like a wonderful choice! It seems that Emory has so very much to offer...my husband's cousin went there some 10 years ago and has never left Atlanta since!
Best of luck!

Well, jmmom, in fairness to you, you have a son who has done his very best under circumstances far behind his control.... and I happen to have a son who is living out the somewhat messy and unpredictable life he has created for himself.

So if my son decides.... or doesn't decide ... or manages yet again to have a decision made for him by his failure to meet some sort of deadline .... I can just sit back and be philosophical. My daughter's college has made it very easy for me by deciding to offer generous financial aid based on the assumption that big brother will NOT be returning to college, but at the same time promising to increase d's grant if and when the sibling does go back. Which takes the financial worries completely off my shoulders.

Twinmom - I'm a little late with a comment about your kids' college destinations, but the situation is a lot like what my own parents faced approximately 30 years ago, when I went to Williams, and my brother went to Vassar. And along the same lines, they later enjoyed telling their friends that their daughter was a lawyer and their son an elementary school teacher. It's fun to challenge peoples' assumptions about which gender goes to which college or enters which profession.

Oh, and my daughter will be joining yours at Harvard.

Congrats Taxguy!! I too was wondering when we'd hear. Sounds like an excellent program - your d must be very talented! Thanks for letting us all know.

Well my DD got accepted at 4 of the 5 schools she applied to. I'm really grateful she accepted a SUNY school rather than one of the private or out of state institutions who accepted her. Seems we made just enough last year to have any federal financial aid genorosity come our way and looking at a total cost of around $17,000 vs $42,000 puts a smile on my face. Nice though that all 4 schools did offer Presidential or Dean's scholarships but a real shame that some didn't even cover 1/10th of the cost.

illumin4tus..Welcome to Duke! Picked up my S at Duke this weekend, and was wowed again with the excellent character and talents of his friends who are all unique but seem to truly support each other. East Campus is an outstanding setting for first years, and S will miss it! Congrats to Diva, Taxguy and nceph, too!
looking forward to hearing about Jmmom's S soon.

I believe I read in another post that your d is in the clive davis program at NYU. I'm collegegirl05's mom (using her member name for this particular post - because it's my first). I'm interested in what you and your d like about the program. My d has been accepted as a transfer fall 06, and is really excited. Any input?
