College after 11th Grade?

I want to apply for admissions at the local community college now...And I just finished my junior year. My plan is to attend there for 2 years, graduate with an ASN (nursing degree), and transfer to another school to get a BSN.

The one catch though is that you can't graduate from the CC without a HS diploma or HS equivalency/GED...And in my parents minds, a GED is really bad even if I were to get it because I went to college early.

How true is this?

It's not bad to end up with a GED at the same time as ending up with an associate degree. If you have really clear career plans like that, that may be a sensible plan.

Check with the schools to which you want to transfer for your BSN and make sure that having a GED instead of a diploma won't hurt your chances.

Why do you want to do this? What is the benefit in skipping senior year?

Perhaps you could register as a homeschooler for a short period of time, have your parents issue you a diploma and then use that for the community college's graduation requirement. You may have to get a GED later on to practice though. Some states require a high school diploma or GED and they might not accept a home school diploma.

I second Chedva, what is the benefit of skipping your senior year?

I agree with Nester that your best bet is to talk with admissions at your target transfer schools to get their take on your plan.
