GED or High school diploma?

First of all, I KNOW that GED sounds worse, but believe me there is a good reason I'm considering it!

I'm going to take college classes at my community college, but I am still finishing up my freshman year at high school. They let you take classes at college for college credit without your high school diploma, HOWEVER you cannot graduate with an A.S. until you actually have either a hs diploma or a GED!

Also, if I was to go high school full time and college classes only part time, I wouldn't be able to earn my AS in two years, it would take longer. I already plan on going to community college first (since community colleges are cheap, what is the point to spend much more money on the same exact education?)
so what's the point of earning a high school diploma if I will be at CC anyway? You only need a GED, and besides, I can already get the GED when I'm 16 (I'm 15 right now) and I don't need to wait 3-4 years for it, I can just get it now,
AND THEN I'll be able to take college classes FULL time year round!
So I don't really need the high school diploma then...

So should I just get my GED when I turn 16? It is sort of risky...

hey you said it yourself “it is sort of risky…”
yeah, no. First, you’re only 15. Give yourself some time, who knows? right now your heart may be set on community college, but, say, if you got your GED and then decided afterwards that you want to go to straight to a university, they might not accept your GED. Honestly, i don’t think you should settle for cc due to cost. In reality, there’s not many people out there that can afford university cost; nonetheless, you are getting a better education depending on where you go. Compare, say Penn State to your cc now; which one is more likely to get you ahead of the game? not that GED, that’s for sure. Personally, if you really want to go to cc for your first two years, get a diploma NOT a GED.

Well, I plan on getting good grades at CC and then transferring to a 4 year university.
