i am slightly overweight...i forgot to add that...before i couldn't do pushup more than 2-3 reps. Now, its 20 reps :)

Of course and even 5 days a week for weight training is too much. most recommend 3x, 4 max. as for working out with a partner, not for me - i got my own schedule and my own business

actually I workout 5 days a week working each muscle group once per week. Although like I said, I avoid failure most of the time and avoid CNS burnout.

And to the other poster, how you train depends on your goals and how long you've been training.

anyone ever taken a zumba class? it's so much fun--you end up dripping in sweat after you shake your a.ss to latin/hip hop music for an hour..my friends and i wanted to get drunk and then go because it'd be like when we go clubbing on thursday nights :)

I do a complete body workout because I have the time to go for a while, but don't always have enough open days to go. Its all about your schedule, but as long as you aren't working out when you are sore or working out every day you don't have to worry either way.

You don't need to build up fitness and muscles to prepare for college life, but you might want to consider hitting the gym within the first month of college.

I'd say people serious about their health go 2-3 times, while some others very serious go 3-5 times. Myself, I've tried to stick to 3-4 times if all I'm doing that week would be hitting the gym.

I actually like to work out, if I don't work out for a while, either psychologically or actually, my muscles feel weaker. I also want to be healthy.

All that said, you don't have to hit the gym to get a good workout; I switched off from going to the gym one semester when I would do capoeira and a mixed martial arts class. I actually prefer that to the gym, because I was actually getting a better more overall workout, it was more interesting, and you feel like you've done more than just worked out, and improved your skills.

martial arts is quite fun and provides excellent work out.

Hmm ^ that sounds interesting and fun! Hadn't considered it.
