I've been going back and forth on this issue in my own head, so I thought I would get some other people's opinions. Would colleges care that I lift weights 4 times per week? I sort of don't think so because on the surface it doesn't seem to have a lot of value to them. However, I was thinking that it is something I am passionate about and have made a commitment to. Also, I did some research and made up my own workout routine, which I think makes it a little more impressive and worthy of being on my application. What do you guys think?

If you can show that you’re committed to it, it can only help.

Found a weight lifting club. Problem solved.

Do colleges have a particular need to enroll students who lift weights four times per week? Is there a way in which your lifting those weights will reflect well on the college, or benefit it in some other way? If so, then yes. If not, then not particularly. No more than if you ran four days per week or practiced piano four days per week or blogged four days per week.

It’s not bad, mind you. It’s certainly better than getting high four days per week, or stealing cars four days per week. But it’s not going to be terribly helpful with college admissions.
