Hi,
When applying to college, how do you submit your official transcripts and your official letters of recommendation?
I understand that I cannot attach the files from my computer for obvious reasons, so I’m wondering how to go about that. Does my recommender have to write a different recommendation for each school and send it themselves? Just very confused about this. And my SAT scores I submit through collegeboard, correct? Or is there another way to do it to avoid the $12 per school fee. Sorry. Nice comments please
SAT through college board. You submit Common App or school apps. Guidance counselors sends the rest. You should never see your letters of rec. Teacher to guidance counselor to school. You notify the GC which schools need transcripts, letters of rec, etc.
Coalition App wont let me submit my application until I send in the documents. Just confused
That doesn’t sound right. The app usually submits fine, and your GC just follows with the other documents. Are you sure it isn’t looking for a supplemental essay or payment from you? Those can keep an app from submitting. Colleges won’t actually evaluate the whole app until they get all the pieces, though.
Test scores can take quite a while, so get those sent soon. Unless you have some kind of waiver, yes, you pay for each school. And teachers need lead time to write letters.
Your teachers will write one letter that can be used at all schools. Your school might use Naviance, and I think sometimes letters are submitted through there. Ask your GC how your school does it.
FYI, if you are applying for Financial Aid, there will be additional forms to submit. Some schools require the CSS Profile, and there’s a fee to submit this (through CollegeBoard). The FAFSA is free to submit. Schools may also have their own separate scholarship applications.
yes. I have my correct payment info and already finished my questions but the “incomplete” portion of my application is my required documents, which include counselor and teacher recommendations. also, i sent my ACT scores for free since it was within a time frame (haven’t gotten my scores back yet since I took it last weekend, so maybe that’s why) @intparent
