College applications

My daughter is adopted and is part cherokee indian (not sure how much). I have been told that there may be scholarships or tuition help to colleges for this. I do not have much information on her birth parents, but the paperwork does indicate she has cherokee indian in her birth line. (Great grandparents) I am not sure how to find out more about applying for these.

I think that there are a lot of people out there who have a small amount of Cherokee ancestry. I have the impression, perhaps unfounded, that a student needs to be a registered member of a tribe and have significant exposure to the culture in order to be considered an URM and derive significant admissions benefit.

You might want to try the financial aid forum to find out more about specific scholarships.

BTW, I just googled “scholarships for Cherokee” and got a lot of hits.

Check on the rules for being considered enough Cherokee to count.
