so,,,are there people whose new score is lower than original score?

NJ was one of the most affected states, and my school had 17 scores that were affected.

Has anyone received their snail mail confirmation of the score change?

Does anyone know if the misgradings were limited to certain states? If so, which states?

Has anyone on this forum been affected by this? If so what state do you live in?

Apparently, someone in Minnesota was. This case will be quite interesting.

In a country where some of our top colleges have acceptance rates of under 10% and a difference of a few hundred points on an SAT score can mean being deprived of a dream school or much-needed financial aid, it's ridiculous that this controversy is being handled so badly by the College Board and the other parties involved. If this group and its test- the SAT- has been taken on as one of the main determinants of college admission across the country, that group needs to accept responsibility for the severity of such an error. I'm just glad that my scores weren't affected.

Hey
I read this article on you guys. I'm thinking of how I can make sure I can get a real score on the SAT. I mean, my GPA is borderline (3.4) for getting into a Florida state school.

The article on the 4,000 SAT Scoring Errors is http://www.lawsuitsearch.com/news/other-lawsuits/sat_scoring_errors_college_effect_sy.aspx

The best line is: "We deeply regret the anxiety and inconvenience that this problem undoubtedly has caused." from the guys at College Board. THANKS !!!!

Harry Montega, why did you bump this thread that's more than 6 months old?

TO all you people who are yelling at the people who are ****ed off at CB.
even if they are a non profit organization and they just administer the test, THEY are the ones who chose to take that responsibility. THEY chose their own fate and they should take full responsibility for the people affected. Your not off the hook just cuz your a non profit org. People trust u with their scores, therefore, CB should be responsible

Storm the Bastille!

the interesting thing was never adressed... because these tests are graded on a curve, for the kids who didnt have ne mistakes on their score... wouldnt their score have been too high...

No, the SAT isn't graded like that. The "curves" are just conversions that are set in advance. It doesn't depend on how people do on each test. Otherwise, that wouldn't be a standardized test.

"um, the article said that the largest mistake was only 130 points."

They probably meant on a single section.

forgive me for this insane board necromancy but...

I have a friend who took the SAT this january, and she got a score that was much lower than expected. when she looked at the score report, it shows that 15 questions were omitted in reading comp, and she is sure she answered every question. deja vu?

Have her rescore it. and please, dead threads should stay dead :]
