College Board Section Ranges for Colleges

Okay, I'm sure everybody has looked up specific colleges on College Board's website and looked at the middle 50% range for the SAT sections. I have been looking at them a lot. However, I toured Michigan about three weeks ago and the middle 50% range for the SAT sections that they reported at the presentation are not consistent with the scores reported by College Board.

I was just wonder how reliable these score ranges really are. If anybody has any info (i.e. how they collect the data, whether it's the average of admitted or enrolled students, how old the data is, etc.) on these score ranges, that would be really helpful!

If anybody has no idea what I'm talking about, here's a link: https://bigfuture.collegeboard.org/college-university-search/university-of-michigan

On the left hand side, click on Applying , then scroll down and click on SAT & ACT Scores.

The “percent of freshmen in each SAT/ACT score range” data is consistent with the 2013-2014 Common Data Set (http://obp.umich.edu/wp-content/uploads/pubdata/cds/cds_2013-2014_umaa.pdf) so I’d assume that the information on the site is pretty accurate.

And from the CDS linked above: “Percent and number of first-time, first-year (freshman) students enrolled in Fall 2013 who submitted national standardized (SAT/ACT) test scores”

Thanks Guys!
