College Board sucks, I need you!

Well, I keep searching for colleges though College Board, but I always get either bored weeding out the ones that don't seem like a good fit or annoyed becasue I pick to many. Anyway, here are some details:

Live in Northern VA

Middle Class

4.0, 3rd in class, and about a 2100 SAT

Plenty of ECs, but stong passion for Theatre

Enjoy a smaller school, like William and Mary

Looking for school on this half of county

Have no idea of major (English/Psychology/Law/Theatre)= ***

So, if you have any ideas, please let me know. :)

Look at Rice (3200 undergrads), Emory (6000 undergrads), Pomona (1400 undergrads), Amherst, Middlebury, Swarthemore, WashU (6600 undergrads), and Duke (6600 undergrads).

I don’t know how their theatre programs are… but they are all smaller size schools.

I was looking at Emory already. I have heard of almost all of those, so i will look up more details.

English, Psychology, and Legal Studies…

You should look into Amherst.

UVA would be in state for you. I’m not sure if it’s harder to get into UVA from NoVa than other parts of VA but even then you’ve got extremely good stats. Though I’m sure you’ve already considered it, don’t discount the fact that you’d get in state tuition.

Now excuse me while I go wipe the vomit off my mouth from pitching UVA to someone.

have you looked at any of the ivies?

I am planning to apply to UVA, for it is an awesome instate school, cheap tuition, and my father has a housenear by with a a two room basement…AKA I don’t have to live on campus at all if I did not want to(but I do). And it is generally easier, for like they say, at places like William and Mary and UVA that 1/3 is out of state, 1/3 is from northern VA, and 1/3 is from the rest of VA. :P

Um, I don’t think my stats are nearly good enough for any Ivies. I am such a cliche bisexual theatre kid. :stuck_out_tongue: However, I am still planning on applying to Darthmouth, maybe. Any more ideas about ivies though?

Ivies would be a major reach unless you have some kind of hook you haven’t mentioned. I saw on another thread that it is harder to get into UVA from NOVA primarily due to intense competition in that area. Add Kenyon, Oberlin and Denison to your consideration list.

Hmm, I am not so sure Erin’s Dad. I have seen plenty of kids get in to UVA from my school with lower stats and less ECs. Anyway, I was thinking about Oberlin.

Ivies= Major reach?

I don’t think so.

You should have Wesleyan and Vassar on the list.

“I am such a cliche bisexual theatre kid.”
You might be happy at U Chicago. 4000 UGs, and you would find many kids there like you. They love smart, “quirky” students who have shown a commitment to their passions. And you cant get a better Liberal Arts education than Chicago offers.
I agree with the suggestions of Wesleyan and Amherst as well.

I was also looking at University of Chicago. I will go ahead and look at Wesleyan and Vassar.

you may want to pose some questions on CC’s UChicago forum… A recent graduate[?] Unalove, can give you a lot of insight. She has also contributed heavily to the FAQ’s thread at the top of the Chicago threads. Good luck.

I know someone at my school who’s going to go do theatre at Yale. so maybe consider there.

^ Ha, I don’t have the stats, but Yale must be my favorite of the Ivys, followed by Dartmouth. :P

^lol. You don’t have the stats? You have a 4.0 GPA, are 3rd in your class, and have a 2100 SAT. Stop being humble.

3rd in my class of only like 215. And the 2100 is completely projected. I got an 1880 the first time, but I went though a much of prep. However, even if it is 2100, that is not good enough for Yale. :P

William & Mary has great theater dept. Cant beat W&M quality @ in state tuition rates.

A 2100 puts you right at the 25th percentile in terms of admittees. So they won’t reject you because of a 2100.
