College Chances

I go to a high profile private school in my area and I’ve done well so I’m planning on applying to some highly competitive schools. I’m thinking about majoring in Chemical Engineering, Political Science, or Economics (in that order). I’m a Junior in High School and below is the important parts of my transcript.

SAT: 1520 (That was my first try and I’m planning on taking it again)
ACT: Haven taken it yet
GPA Unweighted (Through 5 Semesters): 3.951
GPA Weighted (Through 5 Semeters): 4.402
5 AP Classes (I will take 5 Senior Year but I have taken all available so far)
7 Honors Classes (Just thought I would include)
I’m also an Eagle Scout and a recruited Kicker/Punter for football

My top three schools are the military academies (West Point, Air Force, Navy in that order) but I want to come up with a solid plan B so these are all the highly competitive schools I’m looking at and hoping people on here can give me advice on if I am qualified or not for them.

  • MIT
  • Carnegie Mellon
  • Harvard
  • Penn
  • Duke
  • Cal Tech

Your chances are about average for these schools, but they’re all high reaches with a less than 10% admissions rate. More than likely, you’d end-up rejected for all of them. I’m assuming you’re going for an ROTC scholarship. You’ll need some match and safeties. If that’s your goal, you may want to consider Texas A&M. They’re corp of cadets is the largest ROTC program next to to the academies. Other top military schools are Virginia Tech, The Citadel and Marine Maritime Academy.

I was looking at all of those other than the Merchant Marines
