4) wasn’t accepted.

1) Brown University

2) No, but very close. My first choice was Yale. The biggest difference between the two schools was that Yale is needblind for internationals. I’m pleased with my choice of school; i just wish i could have received some aid (didn’t apply for FA at Brown).

3) -

4) Got rejected by Yale.

I think a lot of schools don’t give aid to international students. If you are able to travel from another country to attend school here they usually think you can afford it. I know its like that at Umich

Pretty much in the same shoes as impetuous

1). Duke University

2). It was probably my 2nd or 3rd overall choice and the 1st non-Ivy choice.

3).

4). Got rejected by Harvard.

1.) University of Florida

2.) Yes.

3.) My whole life. Born and raised a Gator!

1.) University of Maryland, College Park

2.) No.

3.) I couldn’t afford my first choice.

1) Purdue University - West Lafayette

2)Yes!

3) Basically, on and off for my entire life. My dad’s a Purdue alum. For a while, I wanted to go out of state to a school in Michigan or something. I basically love the state of Michigan, so I was looking at mid-sized universities there like Central and Western. I was actually in love with Central Michigan for a while until I decided that during a visit to Purdue to attend an engineering program, which I only attended to avoid going to school, that I wanted to an engineer. So Central was out. But then I did an engineering camp at Purdue for a week in July the summer before senior year, so Purdue was number one. But then I investigated other options and loved Western. But then I spent a night on campus in October of senior year, going to classes and shadowing and staying the night with an engineering student, and I basically fell in love with Purdue all over again.

4) N/A

1) USC

2) Yes

3) Not until April of this year. I got accepted everywhere I applied and without any huge money differences, so it was basically my choice based on preference. I hadn’t really thought about my “first choice” until then; I only knew that I’d be happy attending any of my top 5 choices in no particular order. I did some more research and found out that USC is basically perfect for me. =D

I’ll be attending amherst college.

It was never my first choice because I never expected to get in. it was just one of those reach schools that I applied to just for the sake of applying (i didn’t get into any other top-tier schools).

I guess my first choice was uchicago, but I was WLed. in retrospect, amherst seems like a much better fit for me. also, really good financial aid!

1) University of Wisconsin - Madison

2) Yes

3) I’ve wanted to go to UW pretty much my whole life. I grew up very close to Madison and I’ve always been a huge fan of all Badger sports teams. It’s just overall the best deal for me too. Great school with in-state tuition and everything else I want.

UVA here I come! 1st choice and only choice

Harvey Mudd College

Yes!

Probably about the summer before junior year. I had considered it before, but that summer my mom took me down for a tour and it felt like somewhere I belonged.

University of Pennsylvania

Yeah!

It was my first choice as of the fall of my senior year haha…To be honest I was pretty indifferent toward the majority of “top schools” that I wanted to apply to, but since Wharton had ED I went for it.

1) SUNY Stony Brook
2) Nope
3) Wahh
4) Rejected at Yale, Boston U and Carnegie Mellon were too expensive, and Cooper Union restricted me to only one major

1) The University of Alabama
2) God, no.
3) N/A
4) I was rejected from or waitlisted at all SIX of my first choice schools (Cambridge, Yale, Brown, Barnard, Wellesley, and Carleton), and my dad refused to fill out his portion of the aid forms for the other seven. I was stuck with UA whether I liked it or not, because once I received a full ride in January (National Achievement Finalist) my college application process was as good as over.

1.) University of Pittsburgh

2.) No but yes. I applied on a whim and knew nothing about it. I never ever thought I would be going there, but someone suggested I apply because of their pre-med program, and I did. Well, it turned out to be the only school my family could afford because of my scholarship, so I did some research and visited, it turned out to be way better suited for me than any of the other schools I had wanted to go to. These things have a way of working themselves out, I guess. :)

1) Temple University

2) Nope, Syracuse was my first choice for a while.

3) N/A

4) A combination of being waitlisted for Newhouse and the fact that if I did get accepted off the waitlist, my family wouldn’t be able to afford it anyway. Then the more I looked into it, the more I found I didn’t like it as much as I thought I did. I really like Temple though, and I was offered academic scholarships and honors program which is way more than what I would have gotten from Syracuse.

University of Washington

Yes, it was my first choice.

4 years roughly. My top choice kind of fluctuated between this school and other schools during junior year of HS because I kept telling myself that I wouldn’t get accepted and that I should set my expectations a little lower, BUT I ended up getting in.

n/a

I will be attending Drake University! I hadn’t even heard of it until the beginning on my Senior Year! I got accepted everywhere I applied, so it was a pretty tough decision. I am very happy with my choice and a bit nervous!

1) Washington University in St. Louis

2) Knowing what I know now about the school, it should have been near the top… but technically no, it wasn’t my first choice at the beginning of the process

3/4) I originally applied ED to Brown and didn’t get in, but WashU had always been on my list of schools to apply to. Brown was definitely a “hail Mary;” I wasn’t extremely attached to the school, and I knew at the beginning of the process that there were many places that I’d be happy at. I guess you could say I’m only at WashU because Brown didn’t take me, but honestly, I’m super glad I got the chance to explore other schools. Plus (and this is super petty lol) WashU is ranked higher than Brown for undergrad and med school… so take that Brown! :P
