Dartmouth College

No

I fell in love with Columbia from the minute I stepped on to the campus. I thought that it was a perfect fit for me in every way… I still sort of do. However, I applied early and was rejected. Although Dartmouth is so different from Columbia, I still liked the campus and the info session/tour when I visited, so I applied RD, not really expecting to get in. Now I’m a bit nervous for college to begin because I’m afraid that Dartmouth might not be a good fit for me. I mean, if I loved Columbia, how can I love Dartmouth, its polar opposite? In truth, I like Dartmouth a lot and out of all my RD schools, it was the best one for me, so I realize that I’m very lucky and blessed, but after getting rejected from my dream school ED, I still harbor a bit of bitterness and regret in regards to the admissions process. My advice to college applicants would be to try not to fall in love with a college and to keep an open mind–you might just end up where you least expect to!
