I don’t have a smartphone…And I don’t see the point in a Mac unless you’re creatively inclined…

From the sales numbers, iPhone sales have surpassed android sales combined on the past. That’s pretty impressive. One single phone overpowered a market.

I’m not sure about Macs outnumbering PCs, though. $1500-2500 laptop is not a friendly number compared to a $400 laptop.

I’m getting the 13" MacBook Pro i7 8GB this August, though. Pretty stoked. I might upgrade to the iPhone 5 but I’m not crazy about iOS 7…

So um friendlier topics. I’m done college shopping minus shampoo and food. And a lamp. I’m a little packed,

I didn’t take any AP tests

I love my Droid and my PC

Even taking weather completely out of the equation, I still say California has the best quality and most variety for public colleges.

Doesn’t have to be that much…I got my brand new air for $900 with student discounts and I wouldn’t trade it for anything else.

Make sure you wait until they upgrade the new MBPr’s. I heard that was happening sometime in the fall.

Have both a Mac and a PC and I’m getting the iPhone 5 next week. :)

I haven’t even started thinking about college shopping and I haven’t even started packing for my orientation which is next week let alone packing for college…oops.

No, it doesn’t have to be that much. I’ll lower my range: $1,000-$2,000.

:(…I have to wait even longer? Do you know when they’ll release the actual date? My MBPr would be $1,200 alone or $1,500 if I get the bundle.

I didn’t pack for orientation until the day of. Boy was that an experience! :D

I have my bedding, lamp, laptop lock, security box, shower caddy, some hangers…and I think that’s it. There’s so much more to get. :S

You have no reason to get a Retina except spiting your parents.

And Macs might not be as common overall, but I’m willing to bet in college the ratio is much different.

I’m not getting the retina…?

@yankee Are they only updating the retinas?

A lot of people keep suggesting a Mac though…

Whaaaaat you guys are already buying stuff for college?

Or…for only $700 more I could get a 15" MacBook Pro Retina i7 8GB…

Choices. Choices. Choices.

Is it worth it??

@charlavail You haven’t purchased anything yet?? Have you constructed a list? I have a month and a half until I leave. I don’t want it to sneak up on me.

^ i just happened to buy as rthings went on sale, idk what else i need

I know they’re updating the retina’s, not sure if they’re updating all of the pros.

In my opinion, if you’re gonna get a pro you might as well go all out and get your money’s worth and get a retina. I still think the air is a better deal though, but that’s for personal reasons I guess.

Unless you’re a super srs hardcore gamer or media editor, a mac really is the best thing for a college student. Especially the air.

I have yet to do anything.

And right niquii?! Like i have to factor in packing time to lol

Duh we been buying stuffs. They just pull out their college selections.

@yankee Oh…I don’t think I’ll get the retina because I want 8GB and i7…but I don’t want to pay $2,000 for it. I’m more comfortable with $1,300.

But then again, with this update, whose to say my university will have the upgraded ones?

Well, you’ll wanna wait until they put the new haswell processors into them, but who knows how long that will take. They have them in the new airs and it’s amazing, 12 hour battery life. You really think you’ll need 8GB RAM and i7 for chem eng.? You could get a PC with those specs for $700-$800.

It all depends on what you’re gonna use it for I guess.

I’d recommend doing some searches on it. This was an interesting article: http://www.imore.com/deciding-between-new-macbook-air-and-macbook-pro-let-us-help

It’s less for school, but 'll be editing videos and writing. Although, I am bringing an external harddrive and my old laptop. I just want to make sure if my old laptop falls into a dark abyss with my Sims project that the Mac will be able to take care of everything.

I’m kinda scared about how money things are gonna work with my roommate…She’s from the most expensive county in the country…I mean, I can tell she’s more down to earth than her parents but it was a bit awkward when I’m talking about how I have problems spending money…I’m so used to pinching pennies and only really getting things I need or the wants I’ll use consistently…

I’m just gonna quote my post from a thread in the computer section:

If that sounds like you, get the air. If you don’t think that would be enough for you, then get a pro. I just feel it’s unnecessary to have a windows laptop AND a pro. But if you think that’s what you need then go for it.

p.s. I think the air would be able to handle your sims family just fine
